Scratching the Surface
Japan has a unique tattoo style, which covers the whole body like a bodysuit. Although I have lived in Japan for a long time, I did not have enough knowledge about it. Rather, I've tried not to know. This is because Japanese tattoos are associated with underground forces and are shrouded in mystery. Through this book, I want to unveil the painful art that is created by scratching the surface.
Challenge
How can I convey through my designs the emotions that I felt when I researched Japanese tattoos? How can I lower the barriers about the world people hesitate to know?
